Honoring Fallen Police Officers at Hollenbeck Police Station

Proud to join LAPD and community in dedicating memorial today for Hollenbeck officers killed in the line of duty. The ultimate price paid by Officers Jerry Maddox and Steven Gerald Gajda reminds us as someone once said that they were heroes not because of the way they died but because of the way they lived, dedicating their lives to the service of others.

The Washington D.C. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial honors federal, state and local law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty – men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and protection of our nation and its people.

One of the more striking parts of the memorial is the image of an adult lion protecting its cubs. As the memorial states, these bronze statues symbolize the protective role law enforcement officers play, and they convey the strength, courage and valor that are the hallmarks of those who protect and serve. Thanks to all our officers for putting their lives on the line each and every day.
